Focus on Myofascial Pain

Myofascial Therapy during COVID-19

My office is currently open.

I am adhering to CDC guidelines for infection prevention in outpatient settings.

Prior to each therapy session:

  • The treatment table and face rest will be disinfected.
  • Pillowcases will be changed.
  • The pillow is covered with a vinyl cover and will be disinfected.
  • I will be disinfecting and washing my hands and upper arms.

Other protocols:

  • Therapy sessions are spaced one half hour to one hour apart so as to limit contact with other patients, and allow time to disinfect doorknobs, bathroom fixtures and chairs.
  • I will be wearing a mask and ask that you do the same.
  • If you don't have access to a mask I will provide one for you.
  • I will be taking your temperature before you enter the office.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available and I will ask that you use it prior to your therapy session.

I will be asking the following questions:

  1. Have you had a fever of 100° or above in the past 24 hours
  2. Do you now, or have you recently had any respiratory or flu symptoms, cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath?
  3. Have you knowingly been in contact with anyone in the last 14 days who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or has Coronavirus-type symptoms?

I will be asking you to sign the following consent form prior to treatment:

I understand that, because myofascial therapy involves maintained touch and close physical proximity over an extended period of time, there may be an elevated risk of disease transmission, including COVID-19. By signing this form, I acknowledge that I am aware of the risks involved from receiving treatment at this time. I voluntarily agree to assume those risks, and I release and hold harmless Elliot R. Shratter, CMTPT from any claims related thereto. I give my consent to receive treatment from Elliot R. Shratter, CMTPT.

Please cancel your appointment if you have been exposed to someone with the coronavirus in the last 14 days, recently traveled out of the state, are feeling ill, or are exhibiting the following symptoms: dry cough, sore throat, fever, or labored breathing. I, of course, will do the same.

Your safety is paramount and I will do everything I can to keep the environment as safe as possible.

Thank you so much for entrusting me with your care.
